iPhone 17 Pro Design Leak Suggests Exciting Features Ahead

Updated on October 18 with more details on the RAM for the iPhone 17 Pro and the processor, which could lead to the arrival of the iPhone 18 Pro.

When Apple releases the iPhone 17 Pro in the fall of 2025, it looks like it could add a bright color to the range and it looks like the internal design — the processor technology and the on-board RAM — will change. Will also be updated. However, major breakthroughs in new chip tech may not arrive until next year with the iPhone 18 Pro.

As for RAM, next year’s iPhones will have more than now. All the iPhone 16 range has 8GB of RAM, which allows them to run Apple Intelligence. Previously, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max had that much, but the regular iPhone 15 and 15 Plus had 6GB, making them unable to handle Apple Intelligence.

A previous report said that the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will increase this to 12GB, according to a claim on Weibo by someone who calls himself a mobile phone chip expert, who has been the first in this area. The predictions are correct. It was spotted by MacRumors.

The report talks about the processor we can expect to see next year and beyond. It has long been predicted that the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will be the first in the world to use 2-nanometer processors. Which means, exactly?

As MacRumors explains, terms like “3nm” and “2nm” describe generations of chip manufacturing technology, each with its own set of design rules and architectures. These typically indicate smaller transistor sizes. Smaller transistors allow more to be packed on a chip, which generally results in increased processing speed and improved power efficiency. This year’s iPhone 16 series is based on an A18 chip design built using the second-generation “N3E” 3nm process.

However, Weibo’s report suggests that if you’re thinking of buying an iPhone 17 Pro to get that 2nm chip, you may be in for a disappointment. Instead, it now looks like the iPhone 18 series, and will probably only have the Pro and Pro Max models going to 2nm, with the iPhone 17 Pro using the same 3nm chips as the iPhone 16.

The truth is that Apple is very careful about using its processors. Of course, the company will make sure that whatever the chip is, it will be fast and powerful enough to do everything the software needs.

Look no further than the iPhone 16 range, which all managed to increase battery life compared to previous iPhones, through a combination of larger battery cells, more efficient processors and carefully optimized software.

The same report also had information about the iPhone 18, which is due in 2026, will use a different packaging method for chip manufacturing, which is “more complex systems, such as CPUs, GPUs, DRAM, and others. Custom accelerators (eg, AI/ML chips) will be tightly integrated into one package. These changes may be limited to the Pro version of the iPhone 18 line. In the meantime, if these claims are true, it would indicate that Apple is busy changing the iPhone’s chip design to give it more power both next year and the year after.

And then there’s the color of the iPhone 17 Pro. The current iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are mostly muted and understated, unlike the more vivid shades for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus.

Right now, the color choices are: Black Titanium, White Titanium, Natural Titanium and Desert Titanium. All are muted shades, with the exception of Desert Titanium’s yellow-gold finish. Last year was even quieter, the Desert’s predecessor being the Blue Titanium.

One thing’s for sure, the range won’t include both green and dark green as the two are too close, and Majin Buu isn’t suggesting that will happen – although I’d like to see green as the iPhone 17 and dark. But could see. Like the iPhone 14’s purple and iPhone 14 Pro’s deep purple color choices, the respective Pro shades green.

The leaker believes that the most likely option is Teal Titanium, saying, “The most likely candidate could be Teal Titanium considering that the current iPhone 16 series already has the same. The option is there.”

Well, teal isn’t the brightest color on the iPhone 16, it’s Ultramarine, but it’s brighter than some. And for the iPhone 17 Pro, the teal certainly fits with the understated vibe of the iPhone 16 Pro range and looks like a slightly jazzier version of last year’s Blue Titanium, which was a fairly subdued color.

Personally, I’d be happy with a dark green color option, which would show that the iPhone Pro range can surprise us in terms of color.

Apple has always prided itself on surprising people with its designs and the colors carried over from one iPhone generation to the next are quite different, even colors like PRODUCT(RED). When the next iPhone is released, it’s possible that the Pro models will take the iPhone in a new direction.
