Dolly Parton releases new song dedicated to late husband Carl Dean

Dolly Parton is mourning her late husband with music.

The country singer released a new song dedicated to Carl Dean on Friday, titled, “If You Hadn’t Been There.”

The Grammy winner, 79, shared the album art via Instagram, which featured a throwback photo of the couple cuddled up.

Their signatures were included on the bottom, reading, “Dolly + Carl = [love].”

Parton wrote, “Carl and I fell in love when I was 18 and he was 23, and like all great love stories, they never end.”

The songwriter, who wed Dean in 1966 and renewed her vows with him 50 years later, concluded, “They live in memory and in song, and I dedicate this to him.”

In the emotional ballad, Parton sings, “I wouldn’t be here / If you hadn’t been there.”

She praises her late partner with making her “dream more than [she] dared” and “always see[ing] the best in” her.

Additionally, the actress reminisces on being “cradled” in Dean’s “loving arms.”

News broke on Monday of the 82-year-old’s death, with Parton writing in a statement that “words can’t do justice” to their bond.

“Carl and I spent many wonderful years together,” she wrote. “Thank you for your prayers and sympathy.”

Three days later, Parton again thanked her fans for their support during the loss, which “meant the world” to her.

“He is in God’s arms now and I am okay with that,” the “Hannah Montana” alum told her social media followers Thursday. “I will always love you.”

While Dean was notoriously private, he did gush about first laying eyes on his wife in a rare 2016 interview with “Entertainment Tonight.”

“My first thought was, ‘I’m gonna marry that girl,’” he recalled. “My second thought was, ‘Lord, she’s good lookin’.’”

Dean called that moment “the day [his] life began,” gushing, “I wouldn’t trade the last 50 years for nothing on this earth.”
