The Kansas City Chiefs have confirmed that wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster won’t be participating in their Week 8 game, due to an ongoing hamstring issue. In addition to Smith-Schuster, starting cornerback Jaylen Watson has also been ruled out, following a reported ankle fracture.

Key Players Side-lined by Injuries

Coach Andy Reid confirmed the unfortunate news on Monday. Watson, a key player in the team’s defensive lineup, may potentially miss the rest of the season due to his injury. The 26-year-old reportedly sustained the fracture during the Sunday game.

Smith-Schuster’s Hamstring and Watson’s Ankle: A Double Blow for the Chiefs

Smith-Schuster, 27, had to leave the field during Sunday’s victorious match against the San Francisco 49ers, after aggravating a hamstring injury he initially sustained during Thursday’s practice. Despite not being targeted before his early exit, Smith-Schuster has made significant contributions this season, boasting nine receptions, 147 yards, and a touchdown over six games, three of which he started.

Watson, seen on crutches and sporting a cast post-game, is awaiting further tests to ascertain the severity of his ankle injury and the potential for his return this season. With six passes defended and 32 tackles from six starts, his absence will indeed be felt by the team.
